Chandrika Dixit previously worked at Haldiram’s but left her job to care for her son after he contracted dengue. Her husband’s irregular work hours with Rapido also influenced her decision. These challenges led her to start a food cart in Sainik Vihar, serving vada pav, a popular Mumbai snack.

Her stall quickly became a favorite among locals. Her fame skyrocketed when food vlogger Amit Jindal posted a video showcasing her vada pav skills, turning her into a social media sensation overnight.

Controversies Surrounding Chandrika Gera

Despite her success, Chandrika Dixit has faced controversies. In March, a video emerged showing her in tears, alleging harassment by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials who demanded bribes despite her paying the required fees of around Rs 35,000. Her rising popularity through collaborations with content creators and food vloggers, including serving celebrities like Tehelka Bhai, Puneet Superstar, and Dolly Chaiwala, also led to conflicts with other street vendors.

Nonetheless, Chandrika remained determined. Her perseverance paid off, and she was seen in a viral video emerging from a luxury Ford Mustang, hinting at her growing success and hinting at ‘something big’ to come.
