“Senior citizens were facing problem to walk through this footpaths. It was a big mess near Gold gym too. So we decided to install Bollards at all the possible entrance from where one can drive bike on footpaths. This will stop the plying of two wheelers on bicycle tracks too," said Shatrughna Kate, local corporator.
“We have use steel bollards of BRTS bus stops which we demolished few months ago to avoid vehicles to ply from footpath. We will use Cement bollards in future wherever we think footpath is being used by vehicles as per instructions,” said Abhijit Dhade, junior engineer, BRTS Department PCMC
“Parking on Footpath was a big trouble for commuters. It’s a good Initiative Hope this will keep the Footpath free now for walking,” said Hiral Patel, a resident of Kamdhenu Jasmine.
" Vehicles parked on footpath were creating problem to pedestrians mostly senior citizens. Also few two wheelers were using footpath to cross the road faster. Hence, decision was taken to install bollards," said Nirmala Kute, local corporator.
