30/03/2019

Keeping the aim to provide the value and knowledge of organic farming to today’s generation residents of Palash Society from Wakad started Organic farming in their society garden premises. The project is run under 1,500 square feet area in society garden premises.

“Being an IT professional I was having this thought and was thinking of to implement it in society. Finally we started farming in January and by the end of January we sowed fenugreek, beetroot, radish, carrot coriander etc. The whole idea of project was to build the knowledge and value of organic farming to the Childrens who are more in digital world. I got motivation for this while pursuing a course of Landmark Forum, a San Francisco based company which offers personal development programs.” Said Sarika Shrikhande

“We involved little Childrens from our society to let them know what is farming. And along with them their parents also took part in this activity and enjoyed a lot. We created small squares of 2by 4 feet and added compost which we created in our society. Then sowed various vegetables in it. We have distributed responsibility to members of society to take care of the veggies daily.” Added Sarika.

Sumeet Sapkal another resident said that, “We here the buzz words that organic farming and organic food is necessary for the health of environment and ourselves. And keeping this motive we started this in our society keeping the agenda doing it yourself and learning it yourself. And through this kids will come to know how the vegetables are grown and also the importance of organic food and ultimately conservation of nature. My daughter took part so enthusiastically and other kids also came to know that how is the plants life cycle and what we need to do.”

“Kids took part very enthusiastically in this and they are helping us every Saturday Sunday. We have created groups and whenever one gets time they do take care of plants and veggies.” Said Shital Tayade  resident from Palash society “The initiative was taken by Sarika, Sumeet was already looking for all this issues. Our society have composting unit, garden and other things. organic farming is the need of today, as it increase the quality of soil.  Childrens and elders enthusiastically participated in this and we grown Fenugreek, beet root, coriander, radish and carrot. We have distributed our work and are working with great inrest.” said Palash Phalak resident of Palash CHS
