Recently, Rahul Abdagiri uploaded a video from 1991 on social media. This video has triggered nostalgia among Punekars. The video lasts for 2 minutes and 24 seconds and shows glimpses of Pune. It has pictures of Kothrud depot and Chandni Chowk. It also shows Bavdhan-Pashan road and other places in Pune, as well as the scenic beauty of the city, which is now rare.

Chandni Chowk in Pune was once a peaceful place surrounded by trees and hills. Today, it is a busy intersection connecting different parts of the city such as NDA, Pashan, Kothrud, Mulshi, Bavdhan, Warje, Katraj, Nare and many more.

A user on X (formerly known as Twitter) shared the video and was left with tears in her eyes after watching it. She poses the question, “What have we done to Pune?” and adds, “I remember my grandmother telling me that in the 70s she used to see my grandfather’s motorcycle light coming from Chandni Chowk and crossing over to the NDA from Rambaug colony in Kothrud. This is from the 90s and it’s still possible! You can see that Bavdhan, as we know it today, was full of hills back then. It’s incredible what rampant construction has done to our city’s landscape.”

A third user reminisced about riding a bike to places like Pashan, Chandni Chowk and Senapati Bapat Road, all of which were vacation spots. He describes Pune as being one of the most beautiful cities.

A fourth user commented about how different Pune was years ago and described it as being really peaceful. People could always go for a weekend trip to Chandni Chowk or Bavdhan. The user expressed his disappointment by stating that outsiders, politicians and local netas have ruined the peace in Pune and the surrounding areas have been completely destroyed.

The video showcases the scenic beauty of Pune at one point of time which is a rare sight today .
