Delay In Pune Airport Terminal Opening Sparks Frustration Among Flyers

The non-operational status of Pune Airport’s newly inaugurated terminal building, almost a month after its official opening, has left flyers disgruntled, with many terming the government’s March event as an ‘April Fool’ prank. Despite assurances from authorities, no clear date has been provided for the terminal’s public opening, leading to growing frustration among passengers.

Flyers expressed their dismay, labelling the inauguration as a joke played on citizens. Questions have arisen as to why the authorities have not announced a definitive date for the terminal’s operational launch. Sources reveal that approval from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is pending, with efforts underway to make the building operational by April 15.

The terminal, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on March 10, was intended to alleviate congestion and enhance passenger experience. However, travellers landing in Pune have found themselves directed to the old terminal, despite expectations of utilizing the new facility.

One flyer, returning from abroad, shared his disappointment at landing in the outdated terminal despite the grand inauguration of the new building. Another traveller recounted significant delays and inefficiencies experienced while collecting luggage, reflecting the challenges posed by the outdated infrastructure.

A businessman expressed frustration over the prolonged delay in making the new terminal operational, highlighting the apparent lack of coordination among authorities. Aviation experts emphasize the complexities involved in transitioning operations to the new facility, underscoring the need for collaborative efforts from all stakeholders.

As flyers await clarity on the terminal’s opening, concerns persist over the continued inconvenience caused by the outdated infrastructure at Pune Airport.
