In a recent viral video, a woman aboard the Okha to Kanpur Central Express train expressed her frustration to a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) about the overcrowded conditions onboard. The footage, shared by a user named Manu, captured the woman’s discontent with the lack of space among several male passengers in the crowded coaches.

The woman lamented the uncomfortable situation, highlighting the challenges of finding even a small space to move within the train. She articulated her concerns to the TTE, emphasizing the discomfort of being surrounded by numerous men. “You only say, how can we sit with so little space? A woman will feel uncomfortable sitting amidst several men. Leave about sitting, there is no place to even stand there,” she conveyed.

However, the TTE’s response, captured while he was stationed at the train’s gate, has sparked significant discussion on social media platforms. He expressed his inability to address the overcrowding issue, stating, “I can’t make extra trains run. I am not the Railways Minister.”

The video quickly gained traction online, amassing over 700,000 views and prompting widespread criticism of the railway system’s management. Commenters voiced their frustration with the recurring problem of overcrowded trains, attributing it to insufficient infrastructure and management failures.

“This is a sorry state of railways,” remarked one viewer, echoing the sentiments of many who shared their opinions in the comments section. Another commenter pointed out the need for substantial reforms to address the challenges faced by general passengers, emphasizing the necessity of increased train services to meet current demands.

The issue of overcrowded trains persists, with many passengers traveling without tickets or holding tickets for lower classes, further exacerbating the problem. As discussions continue both online and offline, it remains to be seen what measures will be taken to alleviate the strain on India’s railway system and improve the travel experience for all passengers.
