It seems the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has not taken up the work of relocating the vendors seriously and hence the hawkers can still be seen on roads.
Speaking about the issue of non relocation, local Corporator Nana Kate said, "Since 2011 the market structure is lying unused. Funds of Rs 35 lakhs have been spent on constructing the infrastructure but since then the vendors have not been relocated. This place is misused by waste pickers, scrap pickers, drunkards, hooligans, destroying the purpose of this place. In this way PCMC is promoting the hawkers to continue business on road and also not taking enough action on allocating the shops (galas) created in this market. There are more than twenty shops (galas) in this place where the vendors can be relocated from different areas of Pimple Saudagar and Rahatani."
Pankaj Bakare, chairman, Prime Plus society said, "Hawkers are seriously causing menace occupying the pedestrians and motorists way. PCMC must do take constructive step about the issue."
When asked about this vegetable market which is lying unused, local corporator Shatrughan Kate he said, "The vendors from the area have been complaining that buyers dont want to come this side and hence they won’t’ get any business. I am now thinking how we can use this place efficiently for the use of public."
