The Maharashtra State School Education Department has declared the resumption of the teacher recruitment process. The recruitment drive was earlier suspended due to the enforcement of the Lok Sabha election code of conduct. The initiative, which is being managed through the Pavitra portal, is now set to proceed after receiving clearance from the Election Commission.

The education department used the Pavitra portal to manage the recruitment process for teachers. On February 25, a general merit list was generated in response to an earlier advertisement seeking qualified candidates for teaching positions. This list ranks candidates based on their merits and is designed to aid in the selection process. After the list was released, eligible candidates underwent document verification, which initiated the appointment process at the local appointing authority level through counselling sessions.

However, the process encountered a setback when the Central Election Commission announced the Lok Sabha elections schedule in mid-March, enforcing the Model Code of Conduct. This halted all ongoing recruitment processes as per standard procedure during the election period.

In response, the office of the Maharashtra Education Commissioner submitted a request to the Central Election Commission. The request sought permission to continue the teacher appointment process, also referencing a relevant court order supporting the continuation of the process.

Recently, the Education Commissioner’s office received approval from the Central Election Commission to resume the appointments post-voting phase in the recommended localities. Suraj Mandhare, the Maharashtra Education Commissioner, confirmed the update and has directed the appointing authorities to proceed with the necessary actions.

Mandhare stated, “The Election Commission has granted permission to continue the process of appointment of teachers recruitment in the state. Once the voting process is completed, action will be taken regarding the appointment in the respective district.”

This development brings relief to many candidates awaiting the completion of the recruitment process and aims to fill the vacancies in state schools efficiently.
