In a shocking incident that took place on Friday, April 12, in the afternoon hours, one person was brutally killed by being run over by a four-wheeler car in front of the Ayodhya Hotel on the Pune-Nashik highway. The victim, identified as Sabir Mohammad Shafi Byapari (45), a resident of Panasumba Peth, Junnar, was allegedly involved in a one-sided love affair with Jeba Irfan Fakir, who resides in the same village.

Jeba, who works for a company in Kandali Vasahat, developed a romantic relationship with Abhijit Sonawane, an agricultural land surveyor in the taluka. This relationship reportedly sparked a fiery altercation between Sabir and Abhijit when Sabir learned about it.

The dispute escalated on Thursday, during Eid celebrations, when Abhijit visited Jeba’s house, leading to another heated argument between Sabir and Abhijit. On Friday morning, Sabir began chasing Jeba as she was on her way to work, prompting Jeba to inform Abhijit. Consequently, Abhijit intercepted Sabir in front of the Ayodhya Hotel on the Pune-Nashik highway around two o’clock in the afternoon.

During the ensuing altercation, Abhijit allegedly drove his car over Sabir’s body, resulting in Sabir’s death. The entire chilling incident was captured by local CCTV cameras. Upon receiving information about the incident, members of the Muslim community from the area gathered at the police station, demanding stricter action against the accused.

Subsequently, the police apprehended the accused, Abhijit Sonawane and Jeba Fakir, both of whom confessed to their involvement in the crime. Assistant Police Inspector Mahadev Shelar is leading the further investigation into the case.
