A fire erupted on the third floor of a dysfunctional restaurant at Pune’s Phoenix Mall, causing panic among visitors. However, due to the swift implementation of safety protocols, over 1,000 occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries or property damage were reported, according to a statement by the Phoenix Mall administration.

The fire, which started around 3:30 pm, originated in the shuttered restaurant, generating intense smoke and prompting the deployment of five fire tenders, two water tankers, and a Branto firefighting unit. Despite the panic caused by the smoke, mall staffers and firefighters acted promptly to evacuate visitors from the second and first floors.

Nilesh Mahajan, the fire brigade spokesperson, confirmed that while the incident caused panic among visitors, there were no casualties or injuries reported. The Phoenix Mall administration released an official statement acknowledging the smoke incident and affirming that the fire was promptly contained with the assistance of mall staff and fire authorities. They emphasized the successful execution of safety protocols, ensuring the safety of all occupants and preventing any damage to property.
