Pimpri, April 23, 2024 – In a significant move to address environmental concerns, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) today took action against two illegally operating ready mix concrete plants in Punawale and Chikhali, which have been contributing to severe air and noise pollution in the area.

Residents have reported suffering from respiratory issues attributed to the substantial dust emissions and persistent noise from these facilities. After receiving multiple complaints, PCMC conducted thorough inspections at two sites: M.S.V.T.N. Construction Pvt. Ltd. at Somani Towers, Punawale, and Aishwaryam Hamara in Chikhali. Investigations revealed that these operations were running without the requisite approvals from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and PCMC, confirming the validity of the residents’ complaints.

The crackdown was led by Sanjay Kulkarni, Associate City Engineer of the Environmental Engineering Department, along with a dedicated team including Pradeep Mahale, Jagannath Kate, Babasaheb Dhokle, Junior Engineer Swapnil Patil, and Worker Gorakshnath Karpe, supported by MSF and Mesco personnel. The teams’ efforts culminated in the sealing of the offending facilities on April 22, 2024.

Moving forward, the PCMC’s environment department warns that criminal charges will be pursued against any operations found to be causing pollution or running without proper licensing within the municipal boundaries. This action signals a firm commitment by the municipal authorities to enforce environmental regulations and safeguard public health.
