Residents of Pune’s Ramnadi Odha area are facing escalating risks due to ongoing illegal dumping in Odha no: FN25, despite repeated alerts from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The situation has drawn severe criticism towards the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) for its lack of action, risking both life and property.

PMC officials have conducted several visits to the affected zone, meticulously documenting the hazardous conditions caused by illegal dumping. Despite their efforts and continuous follow-ups with PMRDA engineers, the authority has not initiated any remedial measures nor visited the site for assessment.

A meeting held nearly a month ago with the PMRDA Commissioner, where the extent of the dumping and associated risks were presented, yielded promises of immediate action. However, these assurances have not translated into tangible steps, leaving local residents disillusioned and vulnerable as the monsoon approaches.

Advocate Krunnal Gharre, representing the affected residents, expressed dismay over the Commissioner’s inaction, noting that citizens, fearful of repercussions, sought his intervention. Written complaints have been submitted, urging PMRDA to fulfill its obligations promptly.

The illegal dumping not only threatens the environment but also jeopardizes the safety and well-being of nearby communities. The persistence of PMRDA’s negligence raises significant concerns about its commitment to public safety and environmental stewardship.

The PMRDA officials remained unavailable for any comment on the issue.
