The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) launched a major crackdown on illegal hawkers in the Camp and MG Road area. Over 100 handcarts were seized and more than 25 cylinders confiscated during the operation. PCB CEO Subrat Pal said that this initiative will continue rigorously for the next month.

The targeted areas, including East Street and MG Road, have been notorious for unauthorized vendors occupying lanes, causing inconvenience to residents and commuters alike. The crackdown aims to restore order and ensure smooth movement in these bustling parts of Pune.

Residents of Camp and Wanowrie have long awaited such decisive action from the authorities. They hope this sustained effort will yield positive results, clearing up public spaces and improving safety and hygiene standards in the area.

PCB officials are optimistic that this month-long drive will significantly reduce the presence of illegal hawkers and unauthorized vendors, creating a more organized and pedestrian-friendly environment.

The upcoming weeks will reveal the effectiveness of these measures as the PCB remains committed to maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of Pune’s commercial hubs.
