Residents of IVY estate on Nagar Road in Wagholi are facing issues as the roads are flooded with contaminated water from sewage for the past three weeks. The residents have to endure the stinking smell. Despite complaining numerous times to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) authorities, the issue remains to be solved.  An agitated resident took it to social media and shared the pictures, attacking the PMC officials and claiming this as ‘pathetic governance’. The post was further acknowledged and reposted by the Wagholi Housing Society Association (WHSA) on their official handle on X.

According to the residents, the PMC officials are turning a blind eye to the issue. It has become a major inconvenience for the residents of IVY estate and commuters. With the Cholera and Malaria cases on the rise, the residents are concerned about the potential risks.

Somnath Bankar, Assistant  Municipal Commissioner PMC, told Pune Pulse, “Previously the sewage used to flow naturally but the private plot landowners blocked that flow as it passed through their land. There isn’t any other route as of now for the sewage to flow, hence it gets accumulated on the road. The land owners or builders closed the Nalas taking permission from PMRDA. We will soon look into initiating a permanent solution to this issue.”
H Patil, another resident of the area complained to Pune Pulse that there is only one road that leads to atleast 15 societies in the area. One rain and water accumulates making it difficult for bikers, pedestrians, for everyone. Patients have a nightmare. We want the PMC to take cognisance of the matter and resolve our issues.
