Pune: Sanjay Kolte, Chief Managing Director of PMPML, officially inaugurated a new feeder bus service from Ramwadi Metro Station to Kharadi. The launch event, attended by various officials including Vinod Kumar Agarwal, Director of System & Operations at Maha Metro, marked a significant step towards improving local connectivity.

Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Maha Metro, emphasized the service’s benefits for residents of Chandannagar, Viman Nagar, Kharadi, and employees commuting to IT parks in these areas. He highlighted the convenience this service provides, linking these localities directly to the Ramwadi Metro Station.

The Pune Metro currently operates at full capacity on its North-South Corridor (PCMC-Swargate) and East-West Corridor (Vanaz-Ramwadi), spanning a total of 29 km. The Ramwadi Metro Station serves as a crucial interchange point, connecting educational institutions, IT parks, Pune Airport, Special Economic Zones, and residential areas.

The newly introduced feeder bus service will stop at strategic locations including Ramwadi Metro Station, Vadgaon Sheri, Viman Nagar, Chandan Nagar, Kharadi Bypass, Janak Baba Dargah, Silver Chowk, Raghoji Chavan Chowk, World Trade Center Gates 3 and 5, EON IT Park Phase 1, Gera Towers, Gera Financial Zone, and EON IT Park Phase 2.

Fares for the service are set at Rs. 5, Rs. 10, and Rs. 15 depending on the distance from Ramwadi station. The frequency of buses will be adjusted based on passenger demand and feedback from commuters.

The route planning for this service considered various factors including distance, travel time, road conditions, density of bus stops, population density, and the number of employees in nearby business hubs. This initiative aims to establish efficient ‘first to last mile connectivity’, promoting the use of public transport and reducing traffic congestion in Pune’s bustling eastern suburbs.
