Pimpri, (25 June 2024) – Former Standing Committee Chairperson Seema Savale and former Corporator Sham Lande have expressed their opposition to the installation of bollards at Kasarwadi Railway Crossing, which would allow motorcycles to pass but cause significant inconvenience to the residents of Kasarwadi. In a letter to Bhosari Division Traffic Police Inspector B. R. Salunkhe, they outlined their reasons for opposition.

The letter stated that due to the traffic congestion at Kasarwadi Railway Crossing and the Mumbai-Pune Highway underpass, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s B.R.T.S. division and Bhosari Traffic Department had inspected the road. To alleviate the congestion, they proposed installing bollards that would allow motorcycles to pass at the railway crossing. This correspondence was reportedly through the Bhosari Traffic Department.

Seema Savale and Sham Lande argued that the bollards would be a significant obstacle during various local festivals and processions, such as Ganeshotsav, Shiv Jayanti, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Ram Navami, Hindu New Year (Gudi Padwa), Basava Raj Maharaj processions, and Muslim festival Eid-e-Milad. The bollards would also hinder emergency services and funeral processions. They emphasized that the bollards would disrupt all religious events and be unjust and inconvenient for Kasarwadi residents.

They urged that the bollards would not resolve the traffic congestion issue and requested a fair and appropriate solution considering the specific needs of Kasarwadi.
