A private company’s deteriorating compound wall collapsed on two workers on Wednesday morning in Pune’s Sanaswadi region, Shirur taluka, badly injuring three more.

A firm that had begun building a new wall next to the existing one has been charged with culpable homicide by Pune Rural Police.

The event happened at Sanaswadi, Shirur taluka, outside the premises of a construction business at around 8:30 in the morning. In all, about 12 vehicles—four automobiles and eight motorcycles—were damaged during the incident. Pune City is about 35 kilometers away from the neighborhood.

The deceased have been identified by the police as Rajiv Ramyash Bind (31), who was from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, and Manjit Ramavatar Ravidas (28), who was from Sheikhpura in Bihar. The local citizens Vijay Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad (34), Satish Vinayak Kangude (33), and Bandu Kisan Vidhate (36), have been recognized as the injured laborers.

According to police sources, the preliminary investigation indicates that the construction company had begun constructing a new wall adjacent to the crumbling wall for its complex. It has been excavated adjacent to the original wall. The run-down structure unexpectedly fell on Wednesday morning, killing two employees and wounding three more. They added that they have filed a complaint against the owner of the construction company as well as the relevant authorities.
