Pune: On Friday, a court in Pune granted bail to the father of the juvenile involved in the Porsche crash that resulted in the deaths of two software professionals last month.

The court also granted bail to five others, including the owner and managers of two bars accused of serving alcohol to minors. On May 19, two IT professionals died in Kalyani Nagar when their motorcycle was struck by a speeding Porsche allegedly driven by the juvenile under the influence of alcohol. The case drew national attention after the Juvenile Justice Board member L. N. Danwade granted the juvenile bail with lenient conditions, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety.

Police charged the juvenile’s father, Vishal Agrawal, a real estate developer, under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act, and charged the owners and staff of the bars, Cosie and Club Blak, for serving alcohol to a minor. Section 75 addresses “willful neglect of a child, or exposing a child to mental or physical illnesses,” while section 77 pertains to supplying a child with intoxicating liquor or drugs.

The FIR states that the father knowingly allowed his underage son, who lacked a valid driving license, to drive the car, thereby endangering his son’s life, and permitted him to attend a party knowing he would consume alcohol. Advocate Prashant Patil, representing the juvenile’s father, confirmed the bail decision. Another lawyer representing the managers of Cosie restaurant and Club Blak also confirmed that his clients were granted bail.

Notably, the teen is in an observation home till June 25.
