Pune, May 3: In a bid to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with utmost peace and fairness, District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has issued preventive orders for areas within 100 meters of polling stations. The order will be effective on May 7 in Baramati and on May 13 in Pune, Maval, and Shirur Lok Sabha constituencies.

Issued under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the order prohibits the operation of all commercial establishments, pavilions, shops, mobile devices, cordless phones, pagers, wireless phones, loudspeakers, hawkers, electrical equipment, and display of signs within the specified perimeter.

From 6 am until the conclusion of polling, entry of non-voters within 100 meters of the polling stations will be strictly prohibited in the Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency on May 7, and in Pune, Maval, and Shirur Lok Sabha Constituencies on May 13. Dr. Diwase has emphasized that any violation of this order will be met with penal action under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

The implementation of these prohibitory measures aims to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and safeguard the rights of voters, ensuring an environment conducive to free and fair elections.
