The Pune RTO is set to cancel the trade certificate of eleven vehicle dealers for selling vehicles without registration. The RTO issued a show-cause notice to the dealers, who were given seven days to respond. Five of the dealers are from Pune, while the rest are from other cities. RTO offices in other cities have been asked by Pune RTO to take action against the concerned vendors.

The Pune Regional Transport Department launched a campaign after the Kalyani Nagar Porsche accident case, identifying eleven unregistered bikes on the road. The RTO will take action against the five dealers under the Motor Vehicle Act, but it is unclear how long it will take.

Notice has been sent to the following vendors:

  • TVS Shelar, Kharadi
  • Kunal Enterprises, Kondhwa
  • Satav Automobiles, Hadapsar
  • Kothari Wheels, Kondhwa
  • PR Automotive, Manjri

According to the Motor Vehicle Act, the RTO administration can cancel the trade certificate for seven, 15 or 21 days. No vehicle can be sold during the suspension period. The ‘login ID’ given to the vehicle seller in the RTO office will be blocked. As a result, the sellers will be unable to sell their vehicles. This is the first time such an action has been taken by the Pune RTO.
