Pune is gearing up for the arrival of the Palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Tukaram Maharaj, scheduled for Sunday, June 30. In preparation for the arrival, midway, and departure of the Palkhi, traffic diversions have been implemented across the city.

In anticipation of the Palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Tukaram Maharaj this Sunday, June 30, the Pune Traffic Department has announced significant traffic diversions. Major routes will be closed to vehicular traffic post-noon, and motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes and plan their travel accordingly.

Traffic Diversions for Jagadguru Tukaram Maharaj’s Palkhi:

  • Bopodi Chowk
  • Khadki Railway Station
  • Marai Gate Chowk
  • Kamal Nayan Bajaj Chowk
  • Old Mumbai-Pune Highway
  • Other affected routes

Traffic Diversions for Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s Palkhi:

  • Kasba Peth to Vishrambaug Wada Chowk
  • Yerwada Mental Hospital to Alandi Road Chowk
  • Chandrama Chowk to Alandi Road
  • New Dr. Ambedkar Setu to Chandrama Chowk
  • Holkar Bridge to Sapras Chowk

During this period, only essential routes will remain open. Motorists are advised to follow the instructions of traffic police personnel. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, Rohidas Pawar, emphasized the importance of public cooperation to ensure smooth processions.

Key Route Closures and Alternatives:

  1. Ganeshkhind Road (Range Hill Chowk to Sancheti Hospital)
    • Alternate routes: Range Hill to Khadki Police Station, Poultry Chowk, Old Mumbai-Pune Highway, Senapati Bapat Road.
  2. Fergusson Road (Khandoba Baba Chowk to Veer Chaphekar Chowk)
    • Alternate routes: Karve Road, Senapati Bapat Road, Range Hill.
  3. Chhatrapati Shivaji Road (Gadgil Putala to S. G. Barve Chowk)
    • Alternate routes: Kumbhar Ves, Mahaldaka Chowk, Aarti Chowk, Jehangir Hospital, Bund Garden Road.
  4. Tilak Chowk to Veer Chaphekar Chowk
    • Alternate routes: Shastri Road, Mhatre Pool.
  5. Laxmi Road (Belbag Chowk to Tilak Chowk)
    • Alternate routes: Shivaji Road, Hirabaug Tilak Road, Shastri Road.
  6. Shastri Road to Senadatta Police Chowk to Khandoba Baba Chowk

Heavy vehicles are prohibited on these roads. Traffic will be diverted towards the Solapur route and the Navi Mumbai route from Narayanpur and Kapoor Holm. On June 30 and July 2, all types of traffic will be closed on the entire Palkhi Road. Once the Palkhi passes, traffic will gradually resume.

For the final stretch, Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s Palkhi will conclude at Shri Nivdungya Vithoba Mandir, while Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s Palkhi will reach Shri Palkhi Vithoba Mandir in Bhavani Peth. Authorities assure that all measures will be taken to minimize public inconvenience during this period.
