Students have expressed anger over changes in the prospectus for MPSC results, arguing that if rules have been changed, the results should follow. The Finance Department clarified that tax assistance is not available for graduate part-time, earthquake-affected, or project-affected candidates.

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has made skill tests mandatory for candidates with disabilities, ex-servicemen, orphans, part-time, earthquake-affected, and project-affected status. However, the MPSC has also made these candidates qualified for the main examination without a typing certificate. This has caused confusion among students and led to demands for the disqualification of those without a certificate and a re-result.

The notification published on 15 April 2024 states that candidates with disabilities, ex-servicemen, orphans, project victims, earthquake victims, and graduates claiming part-time reservation are not required to take a typing test, as they have 2 years and 2 chances to clear the test.

Students objected to the MPSC’s decision to make typing skill tests mandatory for candidates in project-affected, earthquake-affected, and graduate part-time employees for tax assistant posts in Marathi and English. This led to candidates being selected even when they were not eligible, and students have demanded that the MPSC reconsider and announce a revised result.

Azam Shaikh, a Right to Information Activist, said “MPSC interprets the rules as per convenience and decides. It is seen that mistakes are frequently made in the recruitment process. MPSC officials do not seem to have adequate knowledge of the rules. MPSC has committed mistakes. But the wrongly-declared result is being taken forward.”

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) announced the results of the Tax Assistant Main Exam 2023, revealing that unapplied candidates and project-affected, earthquake-affected, and graduate part-time candidates with no certificates appeared. This reservation is not applicable for tax assistants, as candidates with certificates need both Marathi and English Typing Certificates. Students demanded revised results, but MPSC ignored their requests.

Students have expressed anger over changes in the prospectus for MPSC results, arguing that if rules have been changed, the results should follow. The Finance Department clarified that tax assistance is not available for graduate part-time, earthquake-affected, or project-affected candidates. MPSC took a U-turn, requiring skill tests for these candidates. However, the results remain unchanged, and candidates are questioning how non-eligible candidates were included in the result list. The students are now demanding that the rules be followed for these candidates.
