Tragic accident claims lives of 13, including two children, with four others injured and receiving treatment.

On Friday morning, a devastating collision on the Pune-Bangalore Highway near Haveri district resulted in the death of 13 individuals. Four others also were injured. 

The tragic accident occurred at approximately 3:45 am in Byadagi Taluk. A mini-bus carrying 17 passengers collided with a stationary lorry parked on the side of National Highway 48.

According to authorities, eleven of the passengers died on the spot, while two more succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital. Among the four injured, two are currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receiving critical treatment.

The accident reportedly happened near Gundenahalli Cross when an overspeeding mini-bus rammed into the rear of a parked truck, causing a horrific collision. The deceased included two children, and all the victims were from a single family on a pilgrimage trip. The impact was so severe that the bodies were trapped inside the vehicle, necessitating immediate response from police and rescue teams who quickly arrived at the scene.

As reported the crash took place on National Highway 48, highlighting the ongoing issue of road safety on this major route. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident and provide support to the surviving victims and their families.
