Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the 4th-gen Swift, showcasing refreshed exteriors, upgraded interiors, and a new hybrid engine. Despite the growing preference for SUVs, the Swift maintains its popularity, and the latest iteration aims to enhance its market presence. The launch in India is anticipated later this year, with the model already available in various international markets.

Sportier exteriors:

While retaining its overall design, the 4th-gen Swift boasts cosmetic enhancements. The front grille features blacked-out elements, and in some markets, it is accompanied by a chrome strip border. The radar module is positioned on the top section of the grille, leading to the relocation of the Suzuki logo onto the bonnet. Notable changes include refreshed headlamps, polygonal fog lamps, and a more prominent bumper. The rear showcases new C-shaped tail lamps.

Interior Updates:

The new Swift introduces a revamped dashboard with a dual-tone theme, offering a premium feel. Textured wrapping enhances the visual appeal. AC vents have a new shape, and the climate control and center console sections are updated for improved convenience. The highlight is the 9-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. Key features include premium seat upholstery, Type A and Type C USB charging ports, a center console tray, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a semi-digital instrument cluster with MID.

Performance and Engine Options:

Powered by a new 1.2-litre Z Series, 3-cylinder petrol engine, the 4th-gen Swift provides both NA petrol and 12V mild-hybrid powertrain options. The petrol engine delivers 83 PS of max power and 108 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and CVT in international markets, while India will retain the existing 5MT and 5AMT gearbox choices. The model is now 90 kg heavier, focusing on better aerodynamics, reduced rolling resistance, enhanced comfort, reduced noise levels, improved driving dynamics, and additional assistance systems.

Advanced Features and Safety:

While international models may feature heated seats, ADAS, and AWD, it remains uncertain if these will be available in India. The safety kit for the India-spec Swift includes 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, an electronic stability program, a hill hold assist, and a reverse parking camera.

As the 4th-gen Maruti Swift hits the market, it is poised to set new standards with its sportier design, advanced features, and efficient engine options, challenging competitors in the hatchback segment.
