Pune: Efforts are being made on a war footing to rescue 40 labourers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarakhand. Efforts have been going on for the last 100 hours to evacuate the labourers. On Sunday, November 12, these labourers were trapped after a part of the tunnel collapsed on the national highway in Uttarkashi.

As per further information, on Thursday (November 16), machines were brought in to remove the debris. Now that the American auger machine has started working, the hopes of the labourers coming out safely have increased. This machine will help in drilling the defence line. A 900 mm size pipe will be laid with the help of this machine.

Food and medicines are being provided to the labourers trapped in the tunnel. An oxygen supply pipe is being used for this. They are also being contacted continuously. Support is being provided to the labourers through continuous contact.

International assistance is now being sought for the rescue operation. In 2018, a rescue operation went on for many days to rescue children trapped in a cave in Thailand. The team involved in the rescue operation has been called. Rescue teams from Thailand and Norway are helping to evacuate the workers.

Construction of the Silkyara Tunnel is underway on the Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Due to the collapse of a part of this tunnel, 40 labourers are trapped inside. For this, the option of an escape tunnel was used. But it also failed due to a landslide during drilling. It is also reported that two labourers were injured during the rescue operation.
