“New Acropolis Pune branch, a school of philosophy hosted a day long event called ‘Many traditions, One Essence: Seeking Beauty through Diversity of expressions’. The day was filled with diverse cultural art forms like Shakespearean theatre,  Japanese Origami and Haiku poetry,  and workshops related to Silent carpentry,  Music, Architecture, and ended in a  Bharatnatyam recital.

The central theme that was explored was Unity through Diversity. The different forms enriched the audience with experience of beauty, and had practical lessons which the audience probably could extract for daily life. Through experimental theatre and imagination exercises, Shakespearean play Othello session  explored the concept that both ‘heaven’ and ‘hell’ lies within us and that we always have the choice of who we want to be,  Origami exercises highlighted the importance of mindfulness, while Haiku poetry session focussed on finding beauty in simplicity.

Silent Carpentry workshop conducted by Vivek Mahajan  explored the idea of learning to work with the nature of material to reduce resistance while Sachin Das, an architect  shared how principles of rhythm, harmony, form, texture, and colours can be encountered both in music and architecture.

Rutuja Marne, performed Bharatnatyam recital, and shared by her example the importance of an artist as a vehicle to transmit the meaning. The day allowed a glimpse into the possibility of how conscious elevation towards values could naturally increases human understanding, sensitivity and love towards each other and  enrich us all inspite of our differences.”
