Pune: Candidates preparing for the Pune Cantonment

Pune: Candidates preparing for the Pune Cantonment Board elections have been left disappointed after the Indian government decided to postpone the elections along with 57 other cantonments. The decision was made in accordance with sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Cantonments Act. 2006 (41 of 2006) and section 21 of the General Clauses Act, 1897 (10 of 1897).

The government's notification regarding the cancellation of the election was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, section 4, on February 17, 2023. However, the government has made it clear that the notification only rescinds the previous one, and things done or omitted to be done before such rescission are still valid.

The candidates who were running for the election had already organized programs to gain support from voters. The officials had scheduled the nominations to be received on March 28 and 29, and the elections were supposed to be held on April 30. The registration of new voters also ended on the 4th of this month.

The decision to postpone the elections has left the candidates upset, and they are now questioning the reasons behind the sudden cancellation. Many are concerned about the impact this will have on their campaigns and their ability to connect with voters.
In response to the postponement, some candidates have voiced their concerns about the lack of transparency and communication from the government. They have called for more clarity on the reasons behind the postponement and the new timeline for the elections.

The Cantonment Boards are responsible for the administration and management of the cantonment areas in India. These areas are usually located near military bases and are governed by the Cantonments Act. The elections for the Cantonment Boards are held every five years, and the members of the board are elected by the residents of the cantonment areas.

Pune News : Unauthorized construction at survey 38 and 41 demolished in Kharadi by PMC

Pune Municipal Corporation
issued a statement informing that unauthorized construction at Survey No. 41 and 38 in Kharadi was demolished by the building development cell. The Pune Municipal Corporation had issued a notice to the concerned survey numbers under section 53 of MRTP 1966, but no response was received. As a result, the municipal corporation took strict action and demolished 2 constructions of 11,300 square feet, RCC unauthorized construction.

The demolition was carried out with the help of 1 jaw cutter, 2 breakers, 2 JCBs, 2 gas cutters, and 8 breakers, along with the police force. The entire operation was carried out under the guidance of Pune Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Ajit Surve, along with the assistance of Senior Police Inspector Raju Adagale, Pune Municipal Corporation Branch Engineer Prateek Patharkar, and Junior Engineer Nikhil Gulechcha and Tulip Engineer.

The Pune Municipal Corporation is taking a strong stance against unauthorized constructions and has urged citizens to adhere to the rules and regulations set by the corporation. The corporation has warned that strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules and regulations.

Entry to vehicles prohibited for six hours from New Katraj tunnel to Mumbai

The entry to vehicles from New Katraj tunnel towards Mumbai to remain prohibited for six hours to install VMS and VSD systems.

The entry will be prohibited on March 18, 11 PM to 2 AM on March 19 and on March 23, 11 PM till 2 AM on March 24.

The vehicles will be diverted through old Katraj tunnel, Katraj chowk, Navale Bridge, Vishwas hotel to service road to Mumbai. There won't be any change in traffic for vehicles coming from Mumbai to Satara.

NHAI, Pune Director Sanjay Kadam stated that once the VMS and VMD systems are installed the road will be opened again for travel.
