In a significant move against unauthorized constructions in Pune, the municipal administration has intensified its enforcement actions across various parts of the city. This comes after alarming reports of rampant drug and alcohol sales in hotels, bars, and pubs. Recently, the authorities conducted raids on 19 establishments in Koregaon Park, Baner, Balewadi, and other areas, totaling an enforcement on 56,845 square feet of illegal constructions.

Following a fatal accident in Kalyaninagar involving a Porsche, the spotlight on rooftop hotels, hotels, and unauthorized pub constructions further intensified. Subsequently, the municipal corporation took stringent measures, initiating actions against approximately 144 establishments. However, the enforcement was initially slowed down but regained momentum later.

This week, a forceful crackdown commenced in Baner, Kharadi, Aundh, Sinhagad Road, and Shivajinagar areas. The corporation demolished 36,845 square feet of illegal constructions at 29 locations on Tuesday and continued with 50,61 square feet more today. The action also included prominent venues like Koregaon Park Grade Mamas, Dababa Shahab, Prim Restaurant, Telly Bar, and Shivajinagar Social Hotel FC Road.
