Expansion of MPJAY: Dental Treatments Added, Says Maharashtra Health Minister
Dental care to be included in MPJAY now, more civilians can avail benefits.

Mumbai: Public Health Minister Tanaji Sawant announced on Monday in the Legislative Council that dental treatment will be included in the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MPJAY), in response to MLC Satyajeet Tambe’s question.
Tambe highlighted other issues citizens face with the health scheme, including the misuse of the scheme through bogus patients and the lack of MPJAY implementation in 137 out of 350 talukas. He emphasised the need for the government to take strict action against fraudulent activities and to expand the scheme’s reach.
Tambe also thanked the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for increasing the scheme’s coverage to 5 lakhs per family without restrictions, enabling broader access. The state budget increased health insurance coverage from 1.5 lakhs to 5 lakhs per family at 1,900 hospitals and made 1,356 types of treatment available, now including dental care.
