Pune: Amid the strained relations between India and Canada, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar pointed to organized crime, secessionist groups, violence and terrorism in Canada, and expressed worries that Canada is ‘very tolerant’ for political reasons.

As per further information, S Jaishankar stated that over the past several years, Canada has experienced a surge in organized crime, including but not limited to, secessionist movements, violence and terrorism. All of these elements are deeply intertwined. As a result, India has discussed specifics and information with Canada.

The Indian government has also provided the Canadian government with extensive information regarding crimes and there have been numerous requests for extradition from India.

Regarding Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau’s claims, Jaishankar said that the Indian side would act if the Canadian side provided specific information in the case of the killing of the Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar.

Jaishankar also said that this was not the policy of the Government of India. He also said that if the Canadian side came forward with something concrete and relevant, India would be willing to consider it. The picture is incomplete without context.

It is important to note that Canada has not provided any public proof to back up the allegation that India had a hand in the killing of the Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
