Born on December 21, 1987, in Gurdaspur, Punjab, Navjot Simi completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Baba Jaswant Singh Dental Hospital and Research Institute in Ludhiana. Despite a promising career in dentistry, she pursued her dream of joining the civil services.
Navjot prepared for the UPSC exams with intense dedication, often studying day and night. She took coaching from an institute in Delhi and utilized internet resources efficiently. Her hard work paid off when she cleared the UPSC exam on her first attempt. She passed securing an impressive rank of 735. She was allotted the IPS service and the Bihar cadre.
However, Navjot believes that success can be achieved without expensive coaching classes. Her belief has resonated with many aspirants. She emphasizes the importance of hard work, dedication, and clear vision for cracking the exam.
Navjot underwent training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad. Her first posting was as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Patna. As an IPS officer, she has been involved in various initiatives to maintain law and order, prevent crime, protect women and children, and promote social welfare.

Navjot is married to IAS officer Tushar Singla, who cleared the UPSC exam in 2015 with an all-India rank of 86 and is currently the District Magistrate of Banka in Bihar. Together, they have faced and overcome numerous challenges to serve the public.
Currently, Navjot Simi holds the position of Superintendent of Police (Weaker Section and Cell) in Bihar.
