In the hopes of many young people lies the dream of becoming IAS-IPS officers through the challenging UPSC Civil Services Examination. Among these stories of determination is Navneet Anand’s. He grew up in a small village in Bihar, where life was simple but tough. Despite his humble beginnings, Navneet aimed high. He started his career as an Assistant Commandant in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at just 21 years old.

Navneet faced many obstacles but stayed focused on his goals. At 23, he achieved a major milestone by passing the difficult UPSC Civil Services Examination. His journey from Bihar’s countryside to success in one of the toughest exams in the country shows that with determination, anyone can achieve their dreams.

Navneet Anand, hailing from the quaint village of Harbhanga in Bihar’s Purnia district, has achieved remarkable success at a young age. At just 21, he secured a position as an Assistant Commandant in the CISF. Undeterred by challenges, he continued to pursue his ambitions, and at the age of 23, he accomplished another significant milestone by clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 on his third attempt.

Interestingly, Navneet was in the midst of training as an assistant commandant when the results of the UPSC exam were announced, adding another layer of achievement to his already impressive journey.

He comes from a farming background, yet his parents made the decision to send him to Sainik School in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, when he was in the third grade. Recalling his educational journey, Navneet shared with the Indian Masterminds portal, “I spent eight years studying there. Sainik School Chittorgarh played a significant role in shaping who I am today.”

His childhood was proceeding smoothly until tragedy struck in the seventh grade, altering the course of his life significantly. The sudden loss of his father in a road accident plunged Navneet’s family into turmoil, shifting the weight of responsibility onto his mother’s shoulders. Witnessing his mother navigate the challenges of financial strain and endure insensitive remarks from society deeply impacted him. Motivated by a desire to honour his mother and alleviate her burden, he resolved to take action.

Despite Navneet’s dream of attending the National Defence Academy being thwarted by myopia, he refused to be deterred by this setback. Instead, he remained steadfast and devised an alternative strategy. He pursued a degree in Economics from Ambedkar University in Delhi and simultaneously began preparing for various government recruitment examinations. His determination to adapt and persevere in the face of adversity showcases his resilience and unwavering commitment to achieving his goals.

In addition to his dedication to academics, Navneet finds solace and rejuvenation in his hobbies of painting and playing basketball. Spending at least two to three hours in the library daily, he maintains a balanced routine that includes both study and leisure activities. For him, basketball and painting serve as therapeutic outlets, allowing him to alleviate stress and stay mentally refreshed. Navneet also revealed his prowess as a national-level basketball player, highlighting his multifaceted talents beyond academic pursuits.

Navneet’s journey towards success in the UPSC Civil Services Examination was not without its challenges. Despite facing setbacks in his initial attempts in 2021 and 2022, where he couldn’t clear the prelims, Navneet refused to succumb to disappointment. Instead, he channelled his resilience into alternative avenues. Navneet achieved commendable milestones by successfully clearing exams such as the CDS, UGC NET JRF, and, significantly, the UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant recruitment exam, where he secured an impressive 37th rank.

His proactive approach to preparing for other exams served as a valuable backup plan, allowing him to continue his journey without succumbing to undue pressure.

Navneet’s story is inspiring to many who are also working hard to reach their goals. It shows that no matter where you come from, you can overcome challenges and succeed.
