H3N2 : PCMC reserves beds at five hospitals to treat patients

The first death of H3N2 patient was reported today, March 16 in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. He passed away while he was undergoing treatment. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has reserved 10 beds at each of these five government run hospitals to treat H3N2 patients. The civic body in a press release informed that 10 beds have been reserved in isolation wards of each of these five hospitals. The civic body also appealed that the patients should seek medical help in case of influenza symptoms. The patient who passed away today was undergoing treatment at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital today morning. The patient was tested positive for H3N2 and was also suffering from Chronic Obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heart disease (Atrial Fibralltion).

PCMC health department informed that a total of four cases of H3N2 virus have been reported since January 2023 in Pimpri Chinchwad. Out of four, three have recovered and one passed away today.

PCMC has set up H3N2 treatment facility at below five hospitals :

1) New Thergaon Hospital

2) New Jijamata Hospital

3) New Bhosari Hospital

4) Prabhakar Kute Memorial Hospital, Akurdi

5) Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital

PCMC has appealed citizens to not to panic. Patients showing symptoms such as cough, cold, throat pain must seek doctor’s help at PCMC hospitals. Medication / Treatment is available at PCMC run hospitals. Avoid going out in crowded places. Wear mask if required
