A 54-second video of Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf nearly getting into a fight with fans in the USA has gone viral on social media. The incident occurred just days after Pakistan’s disappointing exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were defeated by co-hosts the USA and arch-rivals India.

In the video, Haris Rauf is seen walking with his wife when a group of fans approaches them for a selfie. Although the conversation is not entirely clear, Haris appears to lose his temper, charging towards the fans. His wife tries to calm him down, but Haris removes his slippers and runs towards the fans, nearly starting a physical altercation before being restrained by one of them.

One fan, visibly upset, is heard saying, “Ek picture maangi hai bas (All I wanted was one picture with you).” Haris, held back by another fan, then responds, “Indian hoga yeh (He must be an Indian),” to which the fan replies, “I’m from Pakistan.”

Pakistan’s Performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup

Pakistan had a challenging campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup. They were stunned by the USA in their opening Group A match, losing in a Super Over in New York. Despite a strong showing against India, Pakistan failed to chase a modest target of 119. Although they secured wins against Canada and Ireland in their remaining group matches, a wash-out game between the USA and Paul Stirling’s team confirmed Pakistan’s group-stage exit. This marked the third time Pakistan exited in the group stages of the T20 World Cup, after finishing as runners-up in the 2022 edition.
