Mumbai, July 3: In preparation for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly General Elections, the Election Commission of India has announced the second special summary revision program for 2024. As part of this program, the commission emphasizes the establishment of polling stations in tall buildings and residential housing societies.

According to a circular from the Department of Cooperation, Marketing, and Textiles dated August 22, 2012, the presidents and secretaries of cooperative housing societies have been designated as ‘Booth Level Volunteers’ for the voter list revision program. These volunteers are responsible for providing the relevant voter registration officers with lists of eligible residents, as well as individuals who have vacated or deceased members of their society. Additionally, society leaders are encouraged to appeal to residents to register and update their voter information.

Housing societies interested in hosting a polling station should contact their respective Booth Level Officers (BLO) or voter registration officers with their society’s name, address, registration number, and estimated voter count. Applications can also be submitted online through the Chief Electoral Officer’s website (http://ceo.maharashtra.gov.in) and via specific Google forms links https://forms.gle/twLTGpjzzy2x9eV36 व https://forms.gle/z261Ah4DDgQxSEvs9

The Chief Electoral Officer has called for the cooperation of cooperative housing societies in this national program, stressing the importance of making polling stations easily accessible for residents.
