Mumbai school pupils  will now be educated and trained on road safety. The government has appointed education officials to collaborate with institutions and school management to make lesson plans for students and teachers regarding road safety.

The Pune Porsche Car Case has shed light on the immediacy and seriousness to inform and aware people especially, the youth the importance of traffic security and the prevention of road accidents.

A state circular from June 21, emphasises the need to teach road safety to students, as most households have at least one car, so these students can then educate their families. Brainstorming and training sessions will be adopted to do the latter.

This program was adopted 1 month after the Porsche car incident.

Schools are mandated to partner with the Road Safety Patrol (RSP) and Civil Defence (CD) to offer road safety and first aid training. The school education minister announced compulsory road safety classes on every Saturday covering theory and practical knowledge. It’s time to stay alert and encourage more initiatives like these yet, the best practice to minimise harm and maintain public security is to learn and educate ourselves at our homes.
