Vadgaon Sheri MLA Sunil Tingre is under scrutiny following his recommendation letter for Dr. Ajay Taware, who is accused of tampering with evidence in a fatal accident case. Tingre, reportedly close to the father of the 17-year-old accused, claims there’s an attempt to misinterpret his letter.

Dr. Taware was arrested for allegedly replacing the blood sample of the juvenile driver with another person’s. This tampering was discovered when DNA from the samples did not match. The 17-year-old, driving a Porsche, had caused an accident killing two software engineers.

Tingre defended his letter, stating, “As a public representative, I often write recommendation letters for various needs like school admissions, medical treatments, and transfers. Each letter includes a note that legal requirements must be met. It’s inappropriate to twist this matter. I have faith in the judicial system and believe the investigation will clarify everything.”

The recommendation letter, dated December 26, 2023, was addressed to Minister for Medical Education and Research Hassan Mushriff. In it, Tingre endorsed Dr. Taware for the role of Medical Superintendent, highlighting his commendable work during the Covid-19 crisis.

Reports have also surfaced that Tingre, who is said to be close to the accused teenager’s father Vishal Agarwal, visited the police station late at night. Allegedly, this visit was an attempt to pressure the police into leniency towards the drunk minor, complain citizens
