Thackeray group leader MP Sanjay Raut criticized the police action in Pune after a drug stock was found, stating that drug dealing would not occur without political support and police assistance. He argued that drugs are transported through Gujarat, and that Pune and Nashik have become centers of drug trafficking in the state. Raut also questioned whether the drug trade in Pune will decrease due to the police action. He pointed out that Pune has a ministerial position at the Centre, yet the city faces social problems and development issues. Raut indirectly targeted Pune city MP and Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol.

Pune City MP, Union Minister of State for Co-operation and Aviation, Muralidhar Mohol, responded to criticism of the Ferguson Road incident by suspending police officers in the affected areas. He also stated that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are closely monitoring the situation and have ordered the establishment of a separate cell for drug cases. Mohol urged against discussing issues based on personal feelings and emphasized the importance of concrete evidence when addressing any topic. On Saturday, he stressed that it was inappropriate to compare Pune to Punjab based on a few drug-related incidents. He urged the opposition not to make hasty comments that could tarnish the city’s image, known for its rich history and culture.
