The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has started the ‘Cycle 2 Work’ Initiative on all Thursdays from today i.e. 7th March 2024.

As per further information from PCMC, considering the increasing number of two-wheelers and four-wheelers on the city roads and the increase in pollution and temperature, it is necessary to take permanent measures in this regard. For this, on behalf of the Municipal Corporation, every Thursday, cycling to work i.e. “Cycle to Work Thursday” has been started. Increased participation in this campaign will not only help in reducing road traffic but also enjoy a healthier commute every Thursday.

Commissioner Shekhar Singh expressed his opinion that the participation of citizens is equally important and the initiative of people’s representatives can help in making this initiative more comprehensive.

The initiative “Cycle to Work Thursday” was launched this morning in the main administrative building of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Commissioner Shekhar Singh himself took part in this activity and travelled from his residence to the office on a bicycle, while other officials and employees also attended the office on bicycles today.

The officers were Assistant Commissioner Yashwant Dange, Executive Engineer Bapusaheb Gaikwad, Deputy Engineer Sunil Pawar, Junior Engineer Sunil Belgaonkar, Santosh Kudale, Computer Operator Anant Chutke and Bicycle Mayor of Pimpri Chinchwad Ashik Jain as well as employees. The number of participating officers and employees will also increase.

Shekhar Singh said that various measures and activities are being implemented by the Municipal Corporation to solve all the problems of pollution in the city, increasing number of vehicles, increasing urban temperature. Also, the participation of citizens in these activities is equally important and it is necessary for everyone to take personal initiative and contribute in these activities. Every Thursday in the “Cycle to Work Thursday” initiative, citizens like municipal employees can use bicycles to move towards a healthy and eco-friendly future and encourage the younger generation to participate in this initiative.
