In a significant development in the Pune Porsche crash case, Pune police have arrested the mother of a teenage boy accused of running over two people while driving a luxury car. The arrest follows the discovery that the mother swapped her blood sample with her son’s to prove he wasn’t drunk at the time of the accident.

The mother of the minor accused will be produced before the court today. Two doctors and one ward boy from Sassoon Hospital are already in police custody in connection with the case. The father of the accused was also booked for involvement in manipulating blood samples.

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar stated that the investigation revealed the minor’s blood samples were replaced with those of his mother. The incident occurred on May 19 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, where the drunk 17-year-old allegedly drove the Porsche into a two-wheeler, killing two techies.

The 17-year-old has been sent to an observation home. Meanwhile, his father and grandfather were arrested for allegedly kidnapping the family’s driver and pressuring him to take the blame for the accident. The investigation has shown that the influential family attempted to cover up the crime by convincing their driver to take the fall in exchange for money. When he refused, they kidnapped him and continued to force him to confess.

Further irregularities were found in the minor’s medical examination at the state-run Sassoon Hospital. Consequently, the Maharashtra Medical Education department appointed a three-member committee, led by Dr. Pallavi Sapale, dean of Mumbai-based Grants Medical College, to investigate the matter.
