Mumbai, July 3, 2024** – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced safety measures to prevent future accidents at unfamiliar and dangerous locations following the tragic incident at Lonavala’s Bhushi Dam, where five members of a family from Pune’s Hadapsar area were swept away. In the state assembly, Pawar declared that Rs. 5 lakh will be provided to the families of the victims from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

In response to MLA Chetan Tupe’s Point of Order concerning aid for the victims’ families and safety measures at dangerous spots, Pawar emphasized the need for preventative measures to avoid such incidents. He directed all district collectors and district police chiefs to install warning signs and take necessary precautions at hazardous locations. Funding for these measures will be made available through the District Planning Committee, which will include putting up warning boards, fencing, and installing safety nets. Similar actions will be implemented at remote dangerous locations to ensure public safety.
