In response to rising concerns over public alcohol consumption along the 50-meter road near Elora Wines in Bavdhan, Advocate Krunal Gharre has taken a proactive step to address the issue. This initiative comes after repeated complaints to the police regarding disturbances caused by late-night drinkers and the unauthorized use of the road.

Advocate Krunnal Gharre’s solution involves strategically placing billboards near shops along the problematic stretch. These billboards bear a message aimed at discouraging alcohol consumption in public spaces. They humorously warn potential drinkers that they will receive free snacks (Chakna) at the police station if caught drinking in the area.

Speaking about the situation, Advocate Gharre highlighted that “the problem has exacerbated due to the underutilization of a new road, attracting more individuals to gather and drink at odd hours. This activity not only disturbs nearby residents but also violates regulations, prompting the need for decisive action. Moreover, complaints have also been made to the Police and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) regarding the same, he said.”

The initiative aims to indirectly deter individuals from consuming alcohol in public by creating awareness and implying consequences through the billboards. It seeks to foster a sense of responsibility among residents and visitors alike, urging them to respect public spaces and adhere to legal norms.

Local authorities have acknowledged the initiative positively, noting an increase in police vigilance in the area as a result.
