The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has greenlit the construction of the Hindavi Swarajya sculpture at Chandni Chowk, with an allocated budget of ₹5 crore for the current fiscal year. This project, spearheaded by the PMC’s Building Department, has received approval from the Standing Committee, as announced by Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale.

The development encompasses a 5,542 square meter area spanning from Chandni Chowk to Warje, incorporating the flyover from Mulshi to Kothrud and the service road of the national highway from Satara to Mumbai. Architect Satish Kamble has been appointed to design and oversee the beautification of Chandni Chowk, which includes the erection of the Hindavi Swarajya sculpture.

The project will feature a grand stone entrance gate, lotus petal-shaped fountains, and a platform approximately 17 feet tall supporting a 20-foot-high bronze statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The area will also include pathways constructed from yellow and red sandstone, a secondary entrance gate, a retaining wall on one side, and a boundary wall on the other. Additionally, extensive landscaping and garden enhancements will be undertaken.

The Standing Committee has approved a total project bid of approximately ₹7.81 crore.
