India takes on South Africa in the T20 World Cup final on Saturday at Kensington Oval on Saturday evening. Cricket fans in Pune are making elaborate arrangements to watch the match live with family and friends. From home screenings to hotel events, the excitement is palpable.

Home chefs report a surge in orders, with many groups and families booking meals for Saturday evening. Hotels and restaurants are also joining in the fun with special menus and offers. For instance, some venues are offering free drinks for every South African wicket that falls and buy-one-get-one deals from home delivery services to make the most of the match day.

Students at a private university in Viman Nagar have organized a screening of the match at their hostel. A student shared, “We planned this screening since the tournament began. Now that India is in the finals, we’ve arranged a grand setup with at least 50 friends joining us. We’ll be ordering biryani, kebabs, and a celebration cake for the night.”

A renowned hotel is offering free shots if Indian players score 50s or 100s, or if the team reaches 100 runs, or South African wickets fall. The hotel manager said, “We are ready to cheer for the Indian team with our mouth-watering menu and great offers on food and drinks. Live screening arrangements are also in place.”

A home chef recalled the India versus Pakistan match of the tournament keeping her busy with orders from friends and families. “I expected a similar flow of orders for Saturday, so I started preparing as soon as India made it to the finals. Orders kept pouring in, and I had to turn down a few because of my own limitations. There are requests for biryanis, seekh kebabs, chole bhature, and cheesecakes.”

A restaurant in Koregaon Park and Kharadi is offering live screenings along with a diverse culinary journey featuring Southeast Asian cuisine.
