Pune: The tragic incident at Bhushi Dam, where members of the Ansari and Syed families were swept away, has underscored significant tourist safety concerns.

In response, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has implemented stringent measures to ensure visitor safety in Lonavala. Tourists are now banned from visiting tourist spots after 6 PM, with severe consequences for both violators and negligent officials, as announced by Pune District Collector Suhas Divase. Detailed guidelines for Lonavala tourism will be released shortly.

Crackdown on Rowdy Behavior:
Authorities will enforce strict actions against youths causing disturbances in Lonavala. District Collector Suhas Divase has issued a stern warning against behavior that troubles other tourists, emphasizing zero tolerance for hooliganism. Frequent complaints about chaos caused by young people during weekends and holidays have prompted this move.

Tourists found violating the 6 PM restriction will face police action, and any official failing to enforce these rules will be held accountable.

Special Guidelines for Lonavala Tourism:
Special tourism guidelines will soon be introduced for Lonavala, a popular monsoon destination attracting crowds from Pune, Mumbai, and nearby areas. Tourists must follow district administration and police instructions, with non-compliance resulting in strict penalties. The measures aim to prevent accidents caused by excessive enthusiasm, particularly while making videos.

District Collector’s Stern Warning Against Hooliganism:
In light of the recent Bhushi Dam tragedy and similar incidents, the District Collector has warned against reckless behavior in areas like Lonavala, Mulshi, Maval, and Pavana. Youths are advised to exercise caution and responsibility to avoid accidents. The monsoon season brings a surge of tourists, often leading to accidents due to misjudged water depths in dams. Responsible enjoyment of nature and adherence to administrative guidelines are crucial to prevent further tragedies.
