Two police officers have been suspended in connection with the case and the Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

A major update has come to light regarding the Pune drug case. Two police officers have been suspended in connection with the case. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The suspended police officials have been identified as Police Inspector Anil Mane and Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Patil. MP and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol informed about this via his social media account.

A loud party went on till early morning at the ‘L3-Liquid Leisure Lounge’ pub bar on Fergusson College Road on Sunday, 23 June where it was revealed that some youths were consuming drugs in this lounge. The police swung into action after a video of the incident went viral and arrested five persons, including the owner, in connection with this. Additionally, two police personnel have been suspended in connection with the case.

So far, a case has been registered against 8 people in this regard at Shivajinagar Police Station including the owner, DJ and manager of the bar. 

This is what MP Mohol said in his post: Shivajinagar police inspector suspended in ‘that’ viral video case. In the case of a viral video of drug consumption in Pune, major action has been taken after your(citizens) suggestion and the Crime Police Inspector, and Assistant Police Inspector of Shivajinagar Police Station have been suspended.

Although the action of suspension is immediate, the Commissioner has also been instructed to appoint a separate system and manpower for Pune Police to conduct an independent campaign against drugs in the entire Pune city.

All colleges, pubs, hostels, and suspicious places should be searched immediately with strict action on how drugs are available in Pune city. Instructions have also been given that an effective investigation campaign should be started to get to the root of this issue.”
