After questioning the family members, the police discovered that Monica and Akash had an affair despite their familial discord. They had fled to Pune because of opposition to their love affair.

A young man killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide on May 13 as their families disapproved of their relationship. The incident occurred at a hotel near Hadapsar. A case has been registered in Hadapsar police station.

The deceased was strangled to death by 30-year-old accused identified as  Akash Arun Khandare, who later committed suicide by hanging himself. 

The duo left their village and came to Pune. They booked a room at Hotel Spotlight located near Hadapsar on the Manjri-Mundhwa route. At midnight on May 13, Akash strangled Monika with a sheet. He then hung himself by tying a sheet to the room’s fan. After their bodies were discovered the hotel personnel reported this to the police. Crime Branch Inspector Umesh Gite carried out the inspection along with Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pande of the Hadapsar Police Station and Assistant Police Inspector Ashwini Rakh.

After questioning the family members, the police discovered that Monica and Akash had an affair despite their familial ties. They had fled to Pune because of opposition to their love affair. They originate from the Kasura village in the Balapur taluka of Akola. Monica was employed, and Akash was a farmer. Police are investigating the issue further.
