Pune Mumbai Expressway experiences heavy congestion near Lonavala

Vehicles traveling via the Pune Mumbai Expressway are facing heavy traffic near Lonavala today morning. Huge congestion was reported to Pune Pulse by a few passengers. Upon speaking to the Highway Police, they said it is a frequent occurrence on weekends.

The congestion is also because its last weekend before the schools reopen and many are ttravelling to beachside and hill stations.
Commuters have come to a complete halt due to the number of vehicles on the road. Weekend getaway plans are proving to be quite burdensome because of the traffic.
A traveller on Pune Mumbai Expressway, Rahul Shinde told Pune Pulse that the road towards Lonavala is jam packed due to heavy vvehicles that lined up due to congestion.
Recently, on May 23, the movement of all types of vehicles on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway was closed for one hour by the Highway Police and commuters were requested to take alternate routes as MSRDC had planned to perform technical inspections and repairs of gantries under the Highway Traffic Management System.
