Pune News : Journalist beaten in Kondhwa by former corporator

Pune: Pune Crime News YouTube channel journalist Sadiq Ibrahim Mazhari Shaikh was beaten and his mobile phone was microphone broken while reporting on an event at Abu Hanifa Cultural Hall in Saibaba Nagar, Kondhwa recently. 

The incident occurred on March 1 and was allegedly carried out by Javed Pathan, son-in-law of former corporator Gafoor Pathan, and ex-corporator Raees Sundke, along with Haji Firoz Shaikh, husband of former corporator Parveen Shaikh, the journalist informed in the press conference.  

Sadiq Ibrahim Shaikh, who is also a Muslim cleric and a social activist, was reporting on the citizens attending the program when the trio became angry and attacked him. They also took his diary and verbally abused him during the beating. The journalist’s equipment, including his mobile camera, boom, and microphone, were damaged in the attack.

Journalists have often been subjected to political and gangster pressure, threats, defamation, and beatings, said Sadiq Ibrahim Mazhari Sheikh during a press conference organized by the Pune Shramik Journalist Association. 

He demanded that the police take immediate action and bring the perpetrators to justice. The journalist also alleged that he had been discouraged from filing a police complaint.

A criminal case has been registered against Javed Pathan, Raees Sundke, and Haji Firoz Shaikh at the Kondhwa Police Station. The press conference was held to ensure that justice is served and that the truth about the incident reaches the public.
