Pune News: Residents Raise Concern as Mithi Mithaas Corner at Punawale Becomes Hotbed of Unlawful Activities
A resident and X user took to the social media platform to express their concerns.

An ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) user took to the social media platform to raise alerts about all the unlawful activities taking place at the popular Mithi Mithaas corner in Punawale. Tagging both the official handles of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police, he wrote, “Mithi Mithas, Punawale corner is becoming a breeding ground. Sinister activities in evening
– People drinking openly
– antisocial elements(prostitution)
If it’s nurtured with same pace,not stopped now, can turn into a crime spot and pain for common resident.”
Additionally, he tagged Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Shrirang Barne, Devendra Fadnavis, Ashwini Jagtap, Rahul Kalate, Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Soc Federation and Punawale – Pimpri Chinchwad Residents Forum in the post which also featured a picture of the location.
This prompted a number of responses from other distressed residents of Punawale and X users.
One user wrote, “Yes I have seen, in that commercial building there is a wine shop and people drink openly after purchasing alcohol from that shop. Anti-social elements between HP petrol pump and Sai milenium commercial building during night time. I request police officers to help & take action.”
While another expressed his frustration saying, “Resident of Punawale, it’s not 1st time happening every day, why we are paying so much of taxes to govt. This is really pathetic for punawale residence. Every day this is going pathetic, always traffic, water logging, etc, etc. Worst place nowadays”.
“Right, truck drivers, water tanker drivers are stopping their vehicle at this service for purchasing liquor and meanwhile there is huge traffic line on both the sides of road, Punawale area is completely neglected by pcmc authorities, city police should take strict action,” replied another user.
Punawale is a rapidly rising Pune neighbourhood located near Pimpri Chinchwad. Pune Mumbai expressway is 5 minutes away from Punawale. It is also conveniently close to Hinjewadi, its expanding IT Park, and the Pune Mumbai Expressway, and is becoming a popular choice for homebuyers in the manufacturing and information technology sectors.

Punawale enjoys easy access to a number of hospitals, schools and commercial centres in addition to being close to Wakad. It is regarded as the future Baner because of its advantageous location. Punawale is a special and desirable site because of its year-round vegetation, spectacular scenery, excellent connection and prospective location. With Hinjewadi, a well-known IT cluster, all around it, travel is cut down.
However, with all of these issues sprouting out, Punawale is becoming less and less desirable as a place of residence.
